Divorce & Family Mediation Services
About
Since forming my practice I have
been totally focused on building the highest quality divorce & family mediation service.
I am a Director at the Center for Mediation & Training and Co-Director of the Center’s new certification program. I am also a Founding Member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. I have been a professional negotiator for over twenty years, having honed my skills as a medical malpractice defense litigator, general counsel to a large not-for-profit, and employment lawyer. I am also a past Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Women in the Law and was appointed to the New York State Bar Association President’s Task Force to Develop Leadership and Diversity and the President’s Task Force on Gender Equity. I have given numerous trainings on employment law issues, have presented on various topics at conferences, and was recently interviewed along with Ken Neumann for THE BIG FLIP, the "documentary on modern families where the wife wins the bread and the husband mans the home." Donna Petrucelli, Principal Mediator
My interest in mediation as an alternative to the traditional divorce process grew out of my own divorce. The endless fights between attorneys made an already difficult process even more so, stretching out for years. I became convinced there was a better way for couples to handle their differences in a safe setting.
In addition to my law degree, I have a B.S. and M.S. in Psychology which I earned while enrolled in a bio-psychology Ph.D. program. Instead of becoming a Ph.D., I decided to pursue a career in law and left the Ph.D. program for law school. As it turns out, my knowledge of psychology plays a big part in my divorce law and mediation practice.
